Job

Then they will be truly monks if they live from the work of their hands like our Fathers and the Apostles (RB 48,8).
Work offers the monk the opportunity to participate in the divine work of creation, the monk works in the footsteps of Christ in his hidden life.

Work supports us with so many men and women who get up every day to bring sustenance to their table. Work in turn promotes the health of the body and soul, and a maturity of the whole person.

With the fruit of his work the monk supports the life of the monastery and helps the poorest and practices hospitality.

In the course of history, monks have engaged in all kinds of work: agriculture, crafts, trades, copying manuscripts, all kinds of workshops, fish farming, etc., without excluding intellectual work.
